Nick successfully defended his master’s thesis and leaves to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot in the United States Navy. Good luck Nick!
We are also pleased to welcome Alex Sorets and Madison Stiefbold to the group! Alex is a first year graduate student in BME who will be co-advised with Craig Duvall. Madison joins us as a research associate to support a wide variety of activities.
We are pleased to officially welcome Brian O’Grady as a postdoc. Brian earned his PhD at Vanderbilt working with our collaborator, Dr. Leon Bellan. We are excited to have him slot onto some of our neural tissue engineering projects!

Derek Lee from Vanderbilt has officially joined the lab and will be working with Allison to investigate neurovascular mechanobiology. In addition, Kara Poole from Trinity University has returned as part of the VUSE summer research program. Welcome!
One of the remaining few from Ethan’s postdoc work, this manuscript was focused on building a 3D model of the neuromuscular junction. Corresponding author Penney Gilbert from the University of Toronto led the study, which was published in eLife.
